Sanjay Reddy holds multiple positions and commands a key management role in various businesses of the Hyderabad based GVK.
As Vice Chairman of GVK Power &
Infrastructure Ltd, he spearheads its foray in key areas of
infrastructure such as Power, Airports, Roads, Mines and Realty. He has
supervised the successful implementation of GVK's pioneering forays in
infrastructure such as the India's first privately operated power plant
in Jegurupadu in the state of Andhra Pradesh and India's first BOT
expressway road project from Jaipur to Kishangarh in the state of
Rajasthan. He is currently focused on expanding GVK's presence in
infrastructure, a key sector that is crucial for India to fulfill its
tremendous potential.
As the Managing Director of Mumbai
International Airport and Bangalore International Airport, he is working
on expanding, consolidating and strengthening GVK's leadership position
in the airports business in India. He is currently shaping the
transformation of India's busiest airport, the Chhatrapati Shivaji
International Airport, Mumbai. The US $ 2 billion project is a
one-of-itskind airport modernization project in the world, with unique
challenges that involves building a completely new airport while in a
state of round-the-clock operations, rehabilitating slums and creating a
vibrant cityside infrastructure in a constrained space. He has outlined
a vision to transform CSIA into one of the best airports in the world
that will be a pride of Mumbai.
He has recently lead the international foray
of GVK Natural Resources into Australia by acquiring one of the largest
integrated coal mines in the world which will be set up at a cost of USD
10 Billion. When completed it will produce about 85 million tons of
high-grade coal a year making it one of the largest coal mines in the
world.
He was instrumental in setting up GVK
Biosciences in the early 2000's, which has emerged as India's leading
Contract Research Services Company with a rapidly growing base of global
pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
He is also the Vice Chairman of GVK EMRI, a
not for profit arm of GVK, a pioneer in Emergency Management Services in
India, which operates over 3000 ambulances as a free service across the
country under a PPP program.
He is also on the Board of Directors of the
TajGVK Hotels & Resorts Ltd and he played a significant role in
setting up the Taj Deccan hotel in Hyderabad.
Educated in the United States, he combines
his professional expertise and knowledge with a global perspective and a
practical approach to business. He holds Bachelor's in Industrial
Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from University of
Michigan, Ann Arbor.
He actively participates and contributes to
various causes through forums such as Confederation of Indian Industry
(CII) wherein he serves as the Deputy Chairman for the CII Southern
Regional Council, CII Young Indians & Young Presidents' Organization
(YPO).
The World Economic Forum chose him as a Young
Global Leader 2007 for his professional accomplishments, commitment to
society and the potential to contribute to shaping the future of the
world & All India Management Association has presented the AIMA
Managing India Award for the Emerging Business Leader of the Year 2011
recently.
